From the moment I decided to make three-dimensional figures, I knew I was in trouble. I am a very particular and fastidious person and bring to my collection those same qualities. This means of course, timeless hours of research and detailed work. So it became a great challenge.
Would anyone else see the spirit and soul in their faces, which I tried so hard to bring out? Would they be appreciated and likes? These were the types of questions ringing through my head, questions that were answered at my first New York Toy Fair in New York City. Besides receiving positive feedback from my industry colleagues and product features in several industry magazines, the defining moment for me was when I saw the first radiant smile my figures brought forth.
Each figure is a one of a kind sculpture, handmade from scratch in every sense of the term, there are no molds used. After the hand shaping, comes the extensive research for the costuming, jewelry, fabrics, etc. finally, the tailor fitting of the clothing. When one of the figures is complete (which can vary from 3 weeks to 12 months, depending on scope of project) and I stare into the face with a pair of gentle and loving eyes, I know the long detailed process was well worth it.
I feel absolutely blessed to see the growth of CasaBlanca Creations over the past 10 years. I am still amazed that what was a hobby is now one of the most sought out collector items in New York City. Yet my motivation is still the same, all I want to do is reach your emotion through one of my figures faces … hopefully an emotion that rewards me with a radiant smile.
